Welcome to First Mennonite Church of Richmond!
At FMC, Jesus is the center of our faith, Community is the center of our life, and Reconciliation is the center of our work.
Our starting point is the example of Jesus who shows us the will and character of God most clearly. Following him, we act with faith, love, and nonviolence to repair the world. We oppose racism, sexism, selfishness, and fear so we can be a part of God’s movement of peace, justice, and wholeness.
COVENANT OF FMC
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we covenant with each other and with God to aspire to be a faithful expression of the Body of Christ in this world, welcoming all to participate in our life together and to join us in making this covenant. To this end, we:
Confess our brokenness and self-centeredness, and our need for God’s rescuing and transforming love, embodied in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, our Lord.
Commit to carry on Jesus’ ministry of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pledge to one another at First Mennonite Church: to give and receive counsel, to extend mutual care, and to share our talents, resources, and prayers as God enables us.
Embrace the value of an Anabaptist understanding of the gospel as articulated in Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective.
